Carnival names John Padgett as Princess president

Cruise line operator Carnival said on Wednesday that John Padgett had been tapped to take over as president of Princess Cruises, effective immediately.
Padgett will oversee all performance and operational functions of Princess and its global fleet of 14 ships and will report directly to Jan Swartz, group president of Holland America Group, which includes the company’s Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn and P&O Cruises Australia brands.

Swartz has served as president of Princess Cruises since 2013, while Padgett previously served as chief experience and innovation officer for Carnival.

Elsewhere, Carnival revealed it had purchased 160,167 ordinary shares at a volume-weighted average price paid of £15.95 per share as part of its previously announced stock swap program.

As of 0930 BST, Carnival shares were up 2.07% at 1,630.20p.
