CFA Society UK pilots “Young Women in Investment Program 2022”

by | Jul 5, 2022

CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals, in collaboration with CFA Society UK and AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) as main sponsor, is taking applications from UK and Ukrainian nationals for its ’Young Women in Investment Program 2022’.

This collaborative initiative includes selected candidates to be considered for paid internships at AXA Investment Managers’ UK office and other financial institutions.

During July, 40 young women from the UK and Ukraine will be selected from applicants from any university educational discipline, but preferably in STEM training. They will be offered the opportunity to participate in a training camp in September, where they will undergo a four-week intensive online financial training campus taught by Fitch. The training camp will include a virtual learning curriculum with interactive webinars, videos, quizzes and simulations to develop basic financial and business skills.

Selected participants will be able to apply for a paid, 3 to 12 months internship starting in the autumn.

As part of its humanitarian outreach, CFA Society UK has shared the bootcamp offer with their partners at CFA Society Ukraine to give access to their displaced female graduate communities. Being part of the bootcamp for the Young Women in Investment Program UK initiative will help support participants’ employability and extend their networks.

Sarah Maynard, CFA Institute’s Global Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, “Our Young Women in Investment initiative has been running for several years in markets such as India and Brazil. This year, in collaboration with AXA IM, we are delighted to bring the program to France, Spain and the UK. The program gives young women from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to pursue a career in finance and receive full-time job offers.

“The success of previous programs has led us to continue to support this initiative. To date, 3 financial institutions have joined the offer of paid internships in London. We are grateful for their partnership to help young women gain a foothold in the financial industry.”

Will Goodhart Chief Executive of CFA Society UK: “CFA Institute’s Young Women in Investment initiative is another step in the right direction to make gender equality the norm in the investment profession. It would be wasteful and wrong to ignore the talent of women in this important sector. It gives us great pleasure that CFA Institute has chosen the UK, together with Spain and France, to continue promoting this initiative. We invite all young students or recent graduates who want to participate to learn more about Young Women in Investment Program 2022

Launched in 2018, Young Women in Investment is an initiative to raise awareness, generate interest and enable women to look to the investment management industry as a viable long-term career option. It is also an attempt to empower young women who seek to start a career to better understand the current flexibility of the industry and the breadth of attractive careers available to them.

This is part of CFA Institute’s Women in Investment Management initiative to improve investor outcomes by fostering gender diversity in the profession. This year it has expanded the programme thanks to the sponsorship of AXA IM, a responsible asset manager, actively investing for the long-term to help its clients, its people and the world to prosper.  From 2022, the program is also offered in France, the UK and Spain, building on the success of the initiative in India and Brazil. Research shows that team diversification produces more comprehensive analysis and improves complex decision-making.

The program is open only to women who are completing their studies in 2022, including Masters graduates from any educational discipline, or recent graduates who have a maximum of two years’ work experience. Applications will be open until 31 July 2022 or until a place in the program is offered to 40 applicants. For more information and to register, visit Young Women in Investing Program 2022.
