Fast food delivery workers to strike at Tesco division

by | Nov 24, 2022

Around 400 fast food delivery workers employed by a division of Tesco have voted to take strike action, it was reported on Thursday, in the latest pay dispute amid Britain’s cost-of-living crisis.
The GMB union said the members, who work for Tesco subsidiary Best Food Logistics, deliver orders for chains including Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut and Wagamama.

It told Reuters that about 76% of the workers who voted in the ballot said yes to the strike action.

“All these workers want is a pay deal that protects them from this crushing cost of living crisis,” said GMB national officer Nadine Houghton.

“Now, some of the best known restaurants on the UK’s high streets will face shortages over Christmas.”

According to Reuters, Tesco had not commented as of Thursday morning.

At 1219 GMT, shares in Tesco were up 0.34% at 236.9p.
