Investors’ focus at the end of the week will be on a preliminary reading for gross domestic product in the euro area during the third quarter.
Consensus is for economic growth to have expanded at a quarter-on-quarter pace of 2.1%, the same as over the preceding three months.
Also due out in the euro area is a first look at consumer prices in the single currency bloc in the month of October.
On home shores, at 0930 BST the Bank of England will publish consumer credit and mortgage lending figures for September.
Also on the economic agenda for Friday are a meeting of China’s Politburo and an interest rate decision out of the central bank of Thailand.
For NatWest Group’s third quarter, UBS analyst Jason Napier says they key will be what the lender will be what it has to say about the future path for net interest income and as regards capital generation and deployment.
Citing Natwest’s own disclosures, Napier pointed out that it was the most geared lender to the recent improvement in yield curve conditions, what with markets already discounting 115 basis points in UK hikes over the coming year, against just 20bp as at the end of June.
“Key within results will be assessing how those benefits are reinforced by a potentially larger rate hedge and offset by the significant decline in flow mortgage spreads.”
In the background, financial markets will also be reacting to the latest quarterly numbers due out overnight from Apple and Amazon.
