Financial markets’ focus at the end of the week will be on the University of Michigan’s consumer sentiment survey for the early June.
Of particular interest, there will be keen interest on how, if at all, expectations for inflation one and five years ahead may have fluctuated after the Federal Reserve’s 75 basis point interest rate hike at its last meeting.
On home shores, overnight consultancy GfK is set to publish its consumer confidence index for June.
Barclays Research anticipates that it will tick higher by one point from the month before to reach -40, thanks to the Chancellor’s latest fiscal intervention.
Also scheduled for release are official retail sales figures covering the month of May (consensus: -4.4% year-on-year).
Across the Channel, the key report due out is the IFO institute’s closely-followed business confidence index for Germany covering the month of June.
Also expected are readings for business confidence in Belgium and Italy.
Further afield, in Japan, investors will be pouring over data releases covering unemployment in May, core consumer prices in Tokyo and the Bank of Japan´s quarterly business confidence survey.
