FTSE 100 movers: JD Sports hit by Nike results; travel stocks gain

by | Sep 24, 2021

London’s FTSE 100 was down 0.3% at 7,060.84 in afternoon trade on Friday.
JD Sports fell after Nike’s first-quarter sales missed expectations and the company cut its full-year sales forecast.

Going the other way, AstraZeneca was a high riser after it said that its Lynparza drug has met the primary endpoint in a trial for the treatment of prostate cancer.

Russ Mould, investment director at AJ Bell, said: “That rounds off a good week for the pharma giant which also pleased with very promising trial results on a breast cancer treatment.”

Travel and leisure-related stocks were also on the up, with engine maker Rolls-Royce, caterer Compass and British Airways and Iberia parent IAG all higher.
