London’s FTSE 250 was up 0.7% at 22,614.88 in afternoon trade on Wednesday.
Man Group was the top gainer after it posted a rise in third-quarter assets under management, driven by “strong” net inflows.
Darktrace was also in the black after the cyber defence company lifted its year-over-year revenue growth forecast to between 37% and 39% from previous guidance of 35% to 37%.
Marks & Spencer was given a boost after Bank of America Merrill Lynch upped the stock to ‘neutral’ from ‘underperform’ following the retailer’s investor event last week.
“The key change to us was the degree of confidence from management and the achievements done over the last two years,” it said.
Going the other way, RHI Magnesita slumped after RBC Capital downgraded the shares to ‘sector perform’ from ‘outperform’. The bank said inflationary pressures are likely to persist in the second half and into the first half of next year.
British Gas owner Centrica was weaker after saying it was postponing its capital markets day due to an unprecedented crisis in the energy sector.
