London’s FTSE 250 was up 0.2% at 22,924.19 in afternoon trade on Tuesday.
Online review platform Trustpilot was the top gainer as Berenberg upped its price target on the ‘buy’ rated shares to 430p from 385p following its “strong” first-half update on Monday.
Howden Joinery gained as it said trading was strong in the first half and ahead of its expectations, with revenue up on the same period in 2020 and 2019.
Iconic bootmaker Dr Martens was boosted by an upgrade to ‘buy’ from ‘neutral’ at Goldman Sachs, which hiked its price target to 535p from 490p.
Going the other way, Cineworld slid as Peel Hunt reiterated its ‘hold’ recommendation on the stock and cut the price target to 75p from 85p as it noted the share price has fallen but is not yet in “buy territory”.
As reasons for the share price slump, traders also pointed to the fact that Walt Disney said the new Black Widow film was almost as popular on Disney+ as at the cinema. They also highlighted the UK government’s recommendation that people should continue to wear face masks in crowded indoor spaces even after 19 July
Redde Northgate fell after the commercial vehicle hire business said it had bought Charged Electric Vehicles (ChargedEV), a charging equipment supply and installation specialist, for an undisclosed sum.
