by | Feb 17, 2022

Independent news website parent Independent Digital News & Media has been mulling over a number of mergers and acquisitions, according to Bloomberg, ranging from consolidations with other media businesses to e-commerce acquisitions.
Chairman John Paton said the Independent had held conversations with other media outlets regarding consolidation-style deals but opted not to divulge any further details.

He also said the UK news brand was also contemplating takeovers that could add new kinds of content or widen its geographical footprint.

“To give you a range of two that we’re currently looking at, one is around the £10.0m mark, which is in the technology space, and there’s one that would be considerably more than that by a multiple factor, that would be in a content space,” said Paton.
