MoD inks £460m logistics system deal with Boeing

by | Jan 5, 2022

The Ministry of Defence announced a new five-year £460m logistics contract with Boeing on Wednesday, which it said would deliver £54m in efficiency savings and sustain 675 jobs across the Armed Forces supply chain.
It said the contract with Boeing Defence UK would see all single services having access to a central, “technology-enabled” system to support inventory services, covering everything from washers and bolts to replacement parts for nuclear missiles.

Around 300 jobs would be sustained at Boeing’s sites in Milton Keynes and Bristol, as well 375 roles in the wider UK supply chain including at IBM, Fujitsu, Sopra Steria and BAE Systems.

The MoD also said the deal would enable the management of current and future equipment through ongoing access to software applications that would be maintained and updated in line with the “changing needs” of defence.

“This contract helps ensure our Armed Forces can rapidly deploy personnel and equipment on operations at home and abroad whenever required, maintaining their reputation as one of the finest fighting forces in the world,” said the Minister for Defence Procurement, Jeremy Quin.
