“With this in mind, we may see Thursday’s statement focused on measures that only begin to raise large amounts for the Treasury in two to three years’ time, rather than the introduction of a raft of significant tax measures with immediate effect.”

Stateside meanwhile, investors would be digesting the results of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s regional factory sector survey for November, due out at 1330 GMT.
In parallel, the Department of Commerce was to publish housing starts figures for October and the Department of Labor its latest tally of weekly jobless claims.
Worth noting, St.Louis Fed President, James Bullard, was scheduled to speak at 1300 GMT, alongside the Cleveland Fed’s Loretta Mester at 1440 GMT and Minneapolis Fed boss Neel Kashkari at 1845 GMT.
Across the Channel meanwhile, at 1000 GMT Eurostat would publish a reading for euro area consumer prices in October.
Further afield, overnight rate-setters in Manila and Kuala Lumpur were due to announce their latest interest rate decisions.
