The market spotlight on Thursday will be on a preliminary reading for US gross domestic product growth over the last three months of 2021.
Consensus is for the pace of expansion to have accelerated from the 2.3% clip in quarterly annualised terms observed in the third quarter to 5.7%.
Also due out are reading for weekly jobless claims, durable goods orders and pending home sales.
On home shores, the only economic report of any significance that is due out is the Confederation of British Industry’s distributive trades survey for January.
Across the Channel meanwhile, consultancy GfK will release the results of its consumer confidence index for January.
Further afield, in the Asia Pacific region, readings for gross domestic product in the Philipines and Taiwan are due out.
In the background, investors are likely to still be digesting the US Federal Reserve’s policy announcement from the night before, while keeping a close eye on the headlines coming out of Ukraine.
They will also be mindful that Apple’s fourth quarter financials which are due out after the close of trading may also influence trading conditions.
