Tuesday preview: China data, Goldman Sachs in the spotlight

by | Oct 18, 2022

Investors’ focus on Tuesday will shift to the Asia Pacific region where China’s National Bureau of Statistics will publish a raft of activity indicators.
They will include reports on fixed asset investment, industrial production and retail sales all covering the month of September, alongside a reading for third quarter gross domestic product.

No major economic releases are scheduled in the UK, although traders will be keeping a close eye on financial markets in general to see if the recent easing in tensions continues.

Stateside, at 1415 BST the Department of Commerce will release industrial production data covering the month of September.

On the corporate side of things, Wall Street heavyweight Goldman Sachs is due to publish its third quarter figures before the market open in New York, followed by media giant Netflix after the close of trading.

Across the Channel, Germany’s ZEW institute will publish its closely followed economic sentiment index for October.
