Investors will be treated to a raft of key economic releases out of the People’s Republic of China over the coming week.
Against that backdrop, several central banks are due to announce monetary policy decisions, not least the European Central Bank.
The week will get off to a slow start due to the Labor Day holiday in the US.
However, that will be followed by readings for Chinese exports and imports in August, on Tuesday, and for consumer prices, on Wednesday.
Rate-setters in Sydney are also due to meet to decide on policy on Tuesday with their counterparts in Canada scheduled to meet on Wednesday.
Then, on Thursday, the ECB will announce the results of its own policy deliberations with investors likely keen to see whether its governing council adopts a more hawkish bias – or not.
On home shores, the main data points to watch out for will arrive at the end of the week, when the Office for National Statistics publishes readings on GDP, industrial production and foreign trade in July.
Stateside, focus will be on Friday’s producer price figures for August.
The results of the multiple US Treasury debt auctions which are scheduled for throughout the week will also likely be closely monitored by investors.
