Financial markets’ focus over the coming will be firmly on the release of a US non-farm payrolls that might eliminate whatever doubts one might harbour that the country’s central bank will start dialing back its asset purchases over the coming months.
US non-farm payrolls growth is expected to pick up from August’s derisory 235,000 pace to something nearer 500,000, alongside a dip in the rate of unemployment from 5.2% for August to 5.1% in September.
Against that backdrop, Tuesday will see the release of a slew of services sector activity surveys on both sides of the Pond, including in the UK.
Also on home shores, on Thursday, mortgage lender Halifax will release its house price survey results for September.
They will be followed by the release of the Financial Policy Committee’s most recent meeting minutes on Friday.
Further afield, also scheduled for Tuesday is the Reserve Bank of Australia’s policy meeting, followed by that of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand the next day.
In Japan, the Tokyo consumer price index for September will also be forthcoming on Tuesday, with readings for the country’s current account and foreign trade in August due out on Friday.
