FTSE 250 movers: Capita rallies, ITV drops in quiet trade

London’s FTSE 250 was flat as a pancake in afternoon trade on Wednesday, at 21,575.02.

As is often the case in the run-up to a long weekend, with news flow scarce, there was no rhyme or reason for much of the individual price action.

Pub group Mitchells & Butlers was among the gainers, along with SSP – an operator of food and drink outlets at travel locations – perhaps as investors looked ahead to the easing of Covid-related restrictions.

Outsourcer Capita and Sabre Insurance were the top performers, however, while software company Micro Focus and broadcaster ITV were the biggest losers. The reason why is anyone’s guess.
