Financial markets’ focus over the coming week will likely shift to Asia, where a barrage of activity indicators referencing the month of July are due out in the People’s Republic of China.
In particular, investors will be keen to assess to what extent the Delta variant of Covid-19 is worsening the mid-cycle slowdown in the Asia giant.
Against that backdrop, on Tuesday the Office for National Statistics will publish employment figures for June, followed by a reading on consumer prices in July the next day.
A reading on July retail sales volumes will also be forthcoming at the end of the week.
Stateside, the Department of Commerce will publish a report for monthly retail sales in July, on Tuesday, and the Federal Reserve bank of Philadelphia its closely-followed factory sector index for August on Thursday.
Central bank policy decisions are also scheduled in New Zealand, on Wednesday, in Indonesia and Norway, on Thursday, and in China, on Friday.
