London’s FTSE 250 was up 0.4% at 23,518.14 in afternoon trade on Thursday.
Iron ore pellet exporter Ferrexpo gained as the price of iron ore rallied.
Endeavour Mining rose after it hailed “strong” third-quarter results and said it was on track to beat full-year production guidance.
Gold miners Centamin and Hochschild both shone as the price of the yellow metal rose. IG market analyst Chris Beauchamp said: “Inflation readings seem to be providing gold with the strength to rally further, as the metal touches $1860 for the first time since June.
“Commodities as a group appear to have further to run now that inflation prints have started picking up again, with no sign as yet that supply has begun to respond in a meaningful fashion.”
TI Fluid Systems tumbled after BC Omega – which is indirectly controlled by investment funds advised by Bain Capital – sold 40m shares in the company in a placing.
The shares were sold to institutional investors via an accelerated bookbuild at 250p each, raising gross proceeds of £100m.
Medical property developer Assura lost ground after saying it plans to raise over £190m as it looks to bolster its development and acquisition pipeline. The company also posted results for the six months to 30 September. Pre-tax profits rose 58% to £69.4m, while earnings per share came in at 2.6p, compared to 1.7p a year previously. EPRA earnings rose 7% to £40.9m.
