BetMGM reveals data breach

Gambling firm BetMGM has revealed that the personal details of an unspecified number of customers were obtained in an unauthorised manner.
The issue affected customer information such as name, contact information, date of birth, hashed Social Security number, account identifiers and information related to transactions with BetMGM, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

The company said it became aware of the matter on November 28, adding that it has no evidence that patron passwords or account funds were accessed in connection with this issue.

“We are taking this matter very seriously and are working quickly to investigate it. The security of our platform and our patrons’ data is a top priority for BetMGM. We regret any inconvenience this may cause,” said chief executive Adam Greenblatt.

BetMGM’s online operations were not compromised, the company added.
