London’s FTSE 100 was flat at 7,493.32 in afternoon trade on Thursday.
With just one more full session to go before the Christmas break, there wasn’t any real rhyme or reason to the movers.
GSK spinoff Haleon was the top gainer on the index, followed by catering group Compass and oil giant Shell.
On the downside, United Utilities slumped, along with online supermarket Ocado and property website Rightmove.
