James Bowmaker joins Tyndall Investment Management from Jupiter

Boutique wealth and fund manager Tyndall Investment Management (Tyndall) has appointed James Bowmaker as Head of Equity Research and Deputy Fund Manager of the VT Tyndall Unconstrained UK Income Fund (the Fund). James will support Simon Murphy, lead manager of the Fund, while helping to develop and enhance the equity research process across Tyndall as a whole.

James spent the last 15 years at Merian Global Investors analysing UK equities and worked as both lead and assistant fund manager on a range of UK equity strategies. He moved to Jupiter Asset Management following its acquisition of Merian in 2020. Prior to this, James was part of the European equities team at Barings Asset Management, having started his career as a sell-side equity analyst at Bear Stearns in 2005.

Alex Odd, Tyndall’s CEO, said, “Since Simon assumed responsibility for the Unconstrained UK Income fund in February 2020, he has demonstrated his unquestioned ability to manage a clearly differentiated UK equity income strategy, despite the challenges presented by the UK market. James will bring additional expertise to the Fund’s management while playing an important role in refining the approach to equity research applied across the firm’s team of investment managers.”

Simon Murphy added “Having worked with James for over eight years while at Merian, I can attest to both the outstanding calibre of his UK equity analysis and his exceptional qualities as a colleague. I have no doubt that he will be an invaluable resource not only working with me in managing the Fund, but also alongside the broader team at Tyndall as Head of Equity Research.”
