Xtrackers by DWS is expanding the way UK investors and platforms can access selected equity ETFs by introducing unlisted institutional share classes, including for swap-based ETFs, alongside its existing listed ETF offerings.
The unlisted share classes have been introduced for selected synthetic ETFs using an established, UCITS-compliant swap-based replication to track indices including the S&P 500, MSCI USA, MSCI Emerging Markets, and MSCI World.
Synthetic ETFs can offer structural efficiency and tighter tracking โ particularly for indices including US equities โ by replicating index performance via swaps. The incremental efficiency gains of swap-based replication can become increasingly meaningful over longer investment horizons as they compound at the prevalent rate of equity index performance. Xtrackers Swap ETFs are built on a multi-counterparty model, designed to diversify exposure, enhance resilience and ensure counterparty risk remains tightly controlled.
Unlisted ETF share classes allow investors to access well-established Xtrackers ETFs through platforms or a transfer agent, rather than trading on exchange, in a way similar to traditional mutual and index funds. These share classes also apply an efficient, institutional grade total expense ratio.
By offering both listed and unlisted share classes within the same ETF, Xtrackers is broadening access across UK distribution channels and giving investors flexibility in how they access a fund, while keeping the same underlying exposure and investment approach.
Unlisted share classes have also been made available for the Xtrackers MSCI Europe UCITS ETF IC EUR and the Xtrackers FTSE 100 UCITS ETF IC GBP, complementing the fundsโ existing listed share classes and supporting a wider range of distribution and dealing preferences.
