Have you ever scrolled through LinkedIn and noticed the same kind of language and phrases, wondering how much of what you’re seeing is down to AI? This is what AI powered career tool Kickresume investigated in its new research.
Kickresume, analysed 275 LinkedIn posts using GPTZero, an AI detection tool, and found the average AI probability scores across different regions, seniority levels and industries.*
Here are Kickresume’s key findings:
- Posts by entry-level employees have the highest probability of being written using AI out of all seniority levels at 40%.
- Finance is the industry with the highest average AI probability score at 39%.
- Entry-level healthcare workers are the demographic with the highest score 62%.
- The technology is the lowest scoring industry with an average score of 18%
- Senior-level employees have the lowest probability scores out of every level at 31%.
Kickresume found that those in entry-level jobs have the highest average AI probability score out of all seniority levels at 40%. On average, posts by mid-level employees scored 33% and high-level senior employees like CEOs and directors had the lowest score at 31%. This may be because junior workers face pressure to build their professional identity, and may use AI for help.
The highest scoring demographic were entry-level healthcare workers, as this group received an average AI probability score of 62%. With demanding schedules, these workers may use AI to post consistently without using up time.
Behind junior healthcare workers are mid-level business employees, as this demographic scored 57%—the second highest AI probability score. Middle-management can be busy and stressful, and so these workers might lean on AI for LinkedIn posting to save time and energy.
When looking across industries in general, finance was found to be the sector with the highest AI probability score at 39%. Senior finance executives were found to have an average score of 46%—which is the third highest scoring industry-level group behind junior healthcare and mid-level workers.
In comparison, the lowest scoring industry is technology at 18%. This is significantly lower than the average AI probability score across all industries which is 33%. The second lowest scoring industry is business, which also scored 33%.
Kickresume found that the lowest scoring demographic overall is entry-level tech workers, which were found to have an AI probability score of just 4%. The second lowest scoring demographic were mid-level tech workers at 13%. Senior level tech workers had an AI probability score of 23%—one of the lowest overall.
Breaking it down by region, Kickresume found that workers in the U.S. were more likely to use AI than workers in Europe, as they scored 35% compared to Europe at 31%. It was also found that across almost every industry, U.S workers had higher AI probability scores. Finance workers in the U.S. were found to have an average score of 50%, which is the highest of any single industry-and-region group.
“Our research shows that workers who are just starting their careers may rely on AI the most when it comes to building a professional persona on LinkedIn. We found that posts by junior workers were the likeliest to have been written using AI at 40% on average, ahead of mid-level employees at 33% and senior leaders at 31%. AI can help entry-level professionals feel more confident while they establish their voice and personal brand.
“On the other hand, one group of entry-level employees had the lowest AI probability scores on average — those in the tech industry. Posts by entry-level tech workers had an average score of just 4%, suggesting they either don’t lean on AI much, or are editing their posts well enough to eliminate the hallmarks of AI writing. Since these professionals often work with AI themselves, they may be the group best equipped to edit their posts until they go undetected.”

Overall, using AI can help you sound more confident, save you time, and help build your professional identity on LinkedIn. However, it’s key to know how to use AI effectively while still keeping your personality and knowledge at the forefront. This may be why technology workers had the lowest AI probability scores, as they know exactly how to eradicate the tell-tale signs of AI use.
