Barclays slumps after share placing

Barclays shares slumped on Tuesday after a share placing.
According to terms seen by Bloomberg, 575m shares in the bank were placed via Goldman Sachs, at a range of between 147.50p and 150.75p a share.

A trader said it was “unconfirmed whether it was Qatar Investment Authority” who sold the shares.

At 0820 BST, Barclays shares were down 5% at 152.42p, having fallen sharply on Monday after the bank said it would take a ยฃ450m hit from overselling products to investors in the US.
