FTSE 100 movers: IHG boosted by broker note; Vodafone goes ex-div

London’s FTSE 100 was up 0.1% at 7,294.27 in afternoon trade on Thursday.
InterContinental Hotels was boosted by an upgrade to ‘buy’ from ‘underperform’ at Jefferies, which said it was its preferred US play.

Premier Inn owner Whitbread was also on the rise. Jefferies cut its price target on the shares to 3,600p from 4,000p but maintained a ‘buy’ recommendation.

Jefferies said that after a lacklustre 2021, European hotel shares are likely to perform well in 2022.

On the downside, Vodafone and Imperial Brands were weaker as they traded without entitlement to the dividend .
