FTSE 100 movers: Subdued market sees little corporate action

by | Aug 25, 2023

(Sharecast News) – London stocks were firmer by midday on Friday as investors turned their attention to the Jackson Hole symposium in Wyoming, in particular speeches by Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell and ECB president Christine Lagarde.
“The FTSE 100 has had a strong week and gains are expected to be retained as we head into the long weekend. The lack of big-hitting news means there’s little to rock the boat, but there is a sense of bated breath ahead of Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s speech later today,” said Sophie Lund-Yates, lead equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown.

With little UK corporate news emanating from the FTSE 100 list volumes and movements were subdued.
