FTSE 250 movers: Watches of Switzerland slumps; Polymetal surges

London’s FTSE 250 was down 0.4% at 20,914.76 in afternoon trade on Thursday.
Watches of Switzerland was on the back foot, having gained a day earlier on the back of an initiation at ‘buy’ at Societe Generale.

Anglo-Russian precious metals miner Polymetal surged to the top of the index.

Private equity firm Bridgepoint rallied after it reported a rise in full-year profits in its first results as a listed company, underpinned by a string rise in assets under management.

Energean was also a high riser after saying it would pay its first dividend in 2022 as the gas explorer swung to an operating profit boosted by higher production and prices. Operating profit for the year to the end of December was $32.1m compared with a loss of $124.6m a year earlier as revenue jumped to $497m from $28m. The pre-tax loss narrowed to $90.7m from $113.6m.
