Romgaz posts ‘high’ operational, financial first half

Romanian natural gas producer Romgaz reported “high” operational and financial performances in the first six months of the year on Friday.
The company, which is 70% owned by the Romanian government and traded through global depositary receipts on the FTSE IOB market, said national gas consumption rose 8% year-on-year, while Romgaz deliveries increased 23.7%.

As a result, Romgaz held a 53% market share in terms of deliveries from internal production – 8.6% higher than the share held at the same time last year.

Natural gas production for the first half totalled 2,519.2 million cubic metres, which was 12.2% higher year-on-year.

Romgaz electricity production reached 203.08 GWh, down 92.15 GWh, or 31.21%, from the prior year, which placed Romgaz at a market share of 0.67%.

Consolidated earnings per share came in at RON 2.0 (35p).

Total income rose 1.11% year-on-year to RON 2.23bn, while total expenses increased 5.05% to RON 1.29bn.

Net consolidated profit slipped 4.9% to RON 800.8m.
