Sports Direct chief executive Mike Ashley Sports Direct founder Mike Ashley is set to step down from leading his retail empire and hand the reins to his prospective son-in-law, according to reports on Wednesday.
According to the Telegraph, Ashley will move on from Sports Direct after almost 40 years at the helm and hand over control of the sportswear retailer to his future son-in-law Michael Murray, the firm’s current “head of elevation”, to become deputy chairman.
An announcement on the future of both group’s boardrooms was expected to come alongside Sport’s Directs results on Thursday.
