Walmart is looking to challenge online shopping giants Amazon and Ebay by luring British businesses on to its own ecommerce marketplace.
According to plans unveiled by the company, approved UK sellers will be able to market their items via Walmart.com and is offering expedited two-day shipping to help them sell across the Atlantic.
The US firm is hosting a summit in London on Friday and said manufacturers and exporters from the fashion, sporting goods, beauty and entertainment sector had been invited.
Walmart owned the Asda supermarket chain until selling it last year to the billionaire Issa Brothers and private equity backers TDR Capital.
Walmart started inviting third-party US sellers to its marketplace in 2009, with international sellers joining the site from 2021 onwards. It expects to add 40,000 sellers to the platform this year alone.
