Wednesday preview: Federal Reserve, global factory PMIs in focus

(Sharecast News) – All eyes on Wednesday will be on the Federal Reserve as rate-setters in the U.S. announce their latest policy decision.
The Federal Open Market Committee is expected to stand pat on interest rates, while keeping the door open to a possible further hike.

“Several FOMC participants have adopted a more cautious tone due to the recent rise in rates, arguing that the rates market had done some of the Fed’s financial tightening work for it, so additional hikes were less necessary,” said analysts at Bank of America. .

“Chair Powell, Governor Waller and NY Fed President Williams all chose not to make a strong case for a Nov hike. We still expect another hike in Dec in a close call.”

Also due out in the U.S. is the Institute for Supply Management’s factory sector Purchasing Managers’ Index for October at 1400 GMT.

Earlier, at 1215 GMT, consultancy ADP would release the results of its private sector payrolls survey for the same month.

On home shores, at 0700 GMT mortgage lender Nationwide would publish its house price data for October.

They would be followed at 0930 GMT by S&P Global’s UK factory PMI covering the same month.

Survey compiler Caixin’s China manufacturing PMI for October was also set for release overnight.
