(Sharecast News) – Investors’ focus over the coming week would be on wage data for the month of May in the UK.
According to Michael Hewson, chief market analyst at CMC Markets UK: “short term yields have continued to rise in anticipation of further rate rises in the coming months, and if this week’s wage numbers for May continue to look sticky, the central bank may find it has no good options when it comes to getting prices under control.”
Those figures would be published on Tuesday at 0700 BST.
They will be followed by a reading on US consumer prices the next day.
Consensus was that the Department of Labor would announce that the headline rate of CPI slowed from 4.0% in May to 3.1% in June.
Core CPI on the other hand was only seen ebbing from 5.3% to 5.0%.
Interest rate decisions were scheduled for Wednesday in Canada and New Zealand.
US producer price data were also scheduled for release, on Thursday, and the University of Michigan’s consumer confidence survey for July on Friday.
In Asia, the market spotlight would be on Chinese consumer and producer price data on Monday.
Chinese foreign trade statistics were scheduled for release on Friday.
